Appreciating Our Nurses During National Nurses Week

It is my honor to announce that National Nurses Week is this week, through May 12th, which is the birth date of Florence Nightingale. Each year, Nurses Week provides us with the opportunity to remember the incredible impact our nurses have on our staff, our patients, and the community.

Our nurses show up every day with an unwavering commitment to teamwork, excellence in care, and leadership that guide our organization through opportunities and challenges. These values are the reason we have achieved Magnet designation—the highest recognition for nursing excellence—four times now.

Nursing isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling. Our nurses are strong, resilient, and compassionate. Together, through collaboration and communication, our nurses remain unflappable and prepared to handle the most unexpected situations. It may not feel like this every day, but it is what we witness as colleagues, and how our patients experience their care.

I can say with certainty that our patients, their families, and entire communities, are forever changed because of our nurses and their commitment. It’s simply not possible to quantify the impact they make. Generations of family members are touched by the care our nurses provide, and we are fortunate to frequently hear messages of gratitude.

Please join me this week in pausing from your busy day to thank our nursing teams. Our nurses are some of the best in the industry, and it’s the perfect time to remind them of this. Together, we can honor our nurses and their amazing efforts.

I wish every nurse a wonderful week. Thank you for all that you do.

Sincerely,

Susan Santana
