SNHMC Offers Child Loss Support Group

Southern NH Medical Center is proud to announce that we now offer a child loss support group based on The TEARS Foundation guidelines. Founded in 2017, TEARS is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and alleviating the financial burden on families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of a child.

The New Hampshire TEARS chapter supports the Angel of Hope Monument located in Abbie Griffin Park in Merrimack, NH. This beautiful memorial serves as a lasting tribute to children lost too soon, whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, or other causes. The monument provides solace and a place for remembrance, with butterfly wings engraved with the names of cherished children.

Funeral Assistance

In addition to the Angel of Hope Monument, the TEARS Foundation offers various forms of funeral assistance to families in need. From infants to adolescents, TEARS provides support for funeral expenses through programs like Jesse’s Grant, the Charlie and Braden Project, and Cali’s Gift, ensuring that every child receives a dignified farewell.

Local Grief Support

The Southern NH Medical Center Child Loss Support Group provides a safe and nurturing environment for bereaved families, professionals, and community members to receive compassionate support. This support group is open to families no matter the child’s place of birth or age of passing. We provide education and resources for ongoing bereavement care and overall wellness. The Southern NH Medical Center group meets in person on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Hudson Room. Reservations are requested. Reserve a space or get more information at TEARSsupport@snhhs.org.

At Southern NH Medical Center, we understand that no amount of support can fully ease the pain of losing a child. However, we hope to offer a beacon of light in the darkness, reminding families that they are not alone on their grief journey.

If you or someone you know needs support, please don't hesitate to reach out. Together, we can provide comfort, compassion, and hope to those who need it most. For more information, please contact TEARSsupport@snhhs.org. Please note that this is not a crisis contact. If you need immediate help, please reach out to your primary care provider or call 9-1-1.
