New Providers Join Immediate Care, Foundation Neurosurgery and Foundation Community Care
Southern New Hampshire Health is pleased to announce four new providers to its practices.
Michael Horgan, MD, a board-certified, fellowship trained neurosurgeon joins Foundation Neurosurgery at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
Dr. Horgan has extensive surgical and academic experience. He was most recently at The University of Rochester (NY) Department of Neurosurgery where he served as an Associate Professor and Director of the Skull Base and Spine Laboratory. Prior to that he spent 16 years at the University of Vermont School of Medicine, where he was Chairman of the Division of Neurosurgery.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine at New Jersey Medical School, where he was class salutatorian. He had previously graduated cum laude with a B.A. in theater from Tufts University. Dr. Horgan completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix following his residency in neurosurgery at Oregon Health Sciences University where he served as Chief Resident in his final year.
“My favorite part of the job is establishing a rapport and mutual trust with my patients,” he says. “My personal method, which has evolved over time, is to find out what makes them tick, what they like to do, and who they are beyond the reason for consultation. Understanding my patients beyond their MRI is not only fun and interesting, it helps to build mutual trust.”
Kathryn Becker, APRN, a board-certified nurse practitioner joins Foundation Neurosurgery at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
A Master of Science in Nursing graduate from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, Kathryn is a board-certified nurse practitioner who serves patients of Foundation Neurosurgery. With a background in both specialty and family primary care, Kathryn is passionate about ensuring patients receive the care they need while feeling supported.
Kathryn said, “Many patients come to us with a decrease in their quality of life due to their symptoms. I enjoy helping patients return to doing the things they love to do through listening, providing education about their conditions, and using conservative and surgical treatment options to help improve their symptoms. It’s always a goal of mine to make sure patients leave feeling cared for and confident about their treatment plan.”
Ernest Tabiri, PA-C, joins Immediate Care of Hudson.
Ernest graduated from Tufts University with a Master of Physican Assitant studies and from Colby-Sawyer College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. His clinical experience prior to joining Immediate care was in an urgent care, ambulatory setting. A certified Physician Assistant, Ernest is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
“I enjoy seeing patients smile, and helping them feel comfortable in the clinical setting. I want to be sure they know that we are listening, and they are being heard,” said Ernest.
Mary Miller, APRN, joins Foundation Community Care.
A graduate of Simmons University School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Mary has served in a variety of settings. She served as staff and charge nurse in an inpatient setting, and Mary was also staff nurse for outpatient care and nurse case manager for home healthcare.
Mary said, “As an RN I have worked in many areas including inpatient surgical and oncology, home care VNA, and other outpatient settings. What I love about my role as a primary care provider in the home and nursing facility settings is that I am able to care for the patient holistically, maximizing their level of function, and addressing details that are often deferred in other settings. My goals are for patients to feel their best and keep them home.”
