Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) creates exceptional detailed three-dimensional images of organs and tissues throughout the body. MRI has become an invaluable diagnostic tool, replacing many invasive surgical procedures.

Unlike other techniques, MRI does not use radiation. It combines a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses and a computer to generate highly detailed images of soft tissue structures near and around bones, blood vessels, organs, and the brain.

Wide-Bore MRI

SNHH gives you more room to relax inside our wide-bore MRI. Patients who find conventional closed MRIs difficult to tolerate no longer have to sacrifice comfort for the quality of their images. Our wide -bore MRI unit will provide you with a more comfortable MRI exam - without feeling closed in. The High-field Wide-bore magnet also provides high quality images.

Fast Breast MRI

Fast Breast MRI is a breast MRI study that has been shortened and specially designed to detect invasive breast cancer. It is offered to women who are at intermediate risk for developing breast cancer and to women with dense breasts as a supplement to screening mammography.

Fast Breast MRI uses no radiation and requires intravenous contrast as with a conventional breast MRI. It is designed to detect invasive breast cancer, not the full spectrum of diseases that can be diagnosed using full breast MRI protocol. As with any screening test, non-cancerous lesions may require biopsy or additional follow-up.

Breast MRI

MRI creates exceptional detailed three dimensional images of the breast  structure; tissue damage or disease, such as infection; inflammation; or a lump. MRI is more precise than mammography or ultrasound for looking at some breast lumps. It combines a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses, and a computer to generate highly detailed images of soft tissue of the breast that cannot be seen on a mammogram or ultrasound.
