The most effective method of removing skin cancer is a procedure called Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Mohs Surgery can remove the entire skin cancer leaving the smallest mark resulting in the smallest scar possible.
Most of the time the skin cancer can be removed in one step. There are occasions, however, when additional surgical steps to fully remove all of the cancer. The entire process of removing the skin cancer, evaluating the skin under the microscope, and closing the skin can take a minimum of two hours. The Mohs procedure is 99% effective in removing all the cancer.
