Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Southern New Hampshire Medical Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for individuals struggling with substance use issues. It allows patients to attend sessions and receive treatment while living in the comfort of their own home and continuing to work in the community.

By participating in the Intensive Outpatient Program, patients are able to establish a foundation for life-long sobriety in a safe and supportive group environment where they can begin to use their newly developed recovery skills. Each patient will have a thorough substance use evaluation before the start of the program to ensure they are suitable for IOP level of care.

Having the support of family and friends is an important part of the recovery process. We encourage all to participate to offer additional support to the patient. The program includes:

  • Average length of stay is usually around 16 sessions over a four week period
  • Meets every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 - 9 p.m.
  • Patients will have the opportunity to meet with a clinician for individual sessions, family meetings, and aftercare planning as needed
  • Aftercare support is available to everyone who completes the IOP, including a weekly after care group (the aftercare program relies heavily on the Peer Support model of care)

During the course of treatment, each patient will have the option to meet with a licensed alcohol and drug counselor as needed. We accept most insurances, please contact your insurance provider for coverage details.
