AI-Powered Colonoscopies

AI-Powered Colonoscopies

For Enhanced Cancer Detection

We are proud to be the first in the southern New Hampshire region to offer enhanced colonoscopies with the GI Genius™ intelligent endoscopy module. This technology helps our physicians detect potentially precancerous polyps using advanced visualization and AI software. Early detection is essential to preventing colorectal cancer, but small polyps can be difficult to detect with the naked eye. GI Genius™ enables our physicians to identify potential cancer as early as possible for the best outcome for our patients.

Diagnostic Tests

Ultrasound is used to examine many of the body’s internal organs. Ultrasound can also look at and listen to blood flow in the arteries and veins.

Computed Tomography (CT) is a valuable diagnostic tool that allows the Radiologist to see a cross-sectional image of any part of the body. CT scan technology has advanced over the years and is an increasingly powerful and effective tool in the diagnosis and treatment of many injuries and diseases.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) creates exceptional detailed three-dimensional images of organs and tissues throughout the body. MRI has become an invaluable diagnostic tool, replacing many invasive surgical procedures.

Colonoscopy has long been the standard in screening for colorectal cancer in people age 50 or older. It has proven very effective in finding polyps (growths) and lesions in the colon that can be removed before they become cancer. According to the Colon Cancer Alliance, 80 percent of all colorectal cancer can be prevented with screening.

Southern NH Medical Center is the first hospital in southern New Hampshire to use high-definition (HD) endoscopes, improving the image quality from these procedures and providing physicians with better diagnostic tools.

Colonoscopy Preparation Information

An upper endoscopy is a procedure in which a doctor uses a flexible tube with a camera, called an endoscope, to examine the upper part of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, and the beginning of the small intestine. It helps diagnose conditions like acid reflux, ulcers, and tumors by allowing the doctor to view the lining and take tissue samples if needed.
