Profile
Nicole Machain received her MS in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner from Simmons College in Boston and her BS in Public Health from Temple University in Philadelphia.
After working in public health consulting, Machain says she recognized she was missing working directly with people in healthcare, so decided to pursue a career in nursing.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Machain is particularly interested in lifestyle issues and treating someone as a “whole person” – helping patients manage chronic medical problems, like hypertension, diabetes, anxiety and depression.
“The appeal of working in primary care is that you’re able to build long-term relationships with patients,” she says. “You’re able to learn about their medical problems, as well as their mental and emotional health in the context of their life and family.”
