About Tehseen R. Naqvi, MD
Dr. Tehseen Naqvi, M.D., a physician board-certified in family medicine, earned a Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) at Rawalpindi Medical College, Punjab University in Pakistan. Dr. Naqvi completed a family medicine residency at Maine Dartmouth Family Practice in Augusta, Maine, and a fellowship in geriatrics, internal medicine program, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
Dr. Naqvi has more than 15 years of experience as a patient-focused physician with a background in geriatrics and family practice.
“I wanted to take care of the whole person, not just one part,” she says. “As a family practitioner the best feeling is taking care of the family and helping all ages, as well as getting to know family members and understanding the family dynamic to help treat the patient better.”
Dr. Naqvi says she “loves the connection with the geriatric population” which she finds very fulfilling. “The geriatric population needs to be treated differently as aging is normal and we all are aging every day.”
In addition, she is particularly interested in polypharmacy, as sometimes patients are on multiple medications that they may have been started on 20 years ago and need to be adjusted as they are aging.
“The doctor patient connection and a patient’s comfort level are most important,” Dr. Naqvi says. “I believe that the patient should feel they can talk to their physician openly and that the doctor should be a good listener.”
In her free time, she likes to cook and loves yoga and long walks.
