About Christine A. Tuohy, APRN-FNP, DNP
Christine Tuohy, DNP, FNP-C, FNP-BC, earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a B.S. in biology at Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts. She is joining Family Practice of South Nashua.
As a family nurse practitioner, Ms. Tuohy believes in creating trusting relationships with her patients to promote primary prevention and create individualized treatment plans.
“I love the opportunity to care for families as a whole. Knowing multiple members can take away from the anxiety and power dynamic that often unintentionally accompanies healthcare visits. It helps to feel like you are cared for by someone that knows not only you but those closest to you as well.”
She collaborates with outside care providers to deliver patient-centered care and seeks to educate her patients. “Education is so important in primary prevention. When patients know what screenings and interventions are available to them and how to stay on top of their health, we can hopefully prevent disease that could have developed otherwise.”
Ms. Tuohy chose to pursue a DNP degree to develop her leadership skills and learn more about systemic barriers that affect patient care and work towards quality improvement.
Outside of work, she teaches and mentors DNP students who are completing their doctoral projects at UMass Medical School. She also enjoys baking and skiing.
