Profile

Dr. Hartman-Heaney joined the Intensivist Program at Elliot Hospital in 2012 after completing her fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Baystate Hospital in Springfield, MA. Her undergraduate studies at Indiana University were in History and Political Science, and she completed a masters in political science at Tulane University.
 
After a first career as an Outward Bound instructor and course director -where a wilderness EMT course sparked her interest in medicine- she studied pre-med in a post-baccalaureate program at Bennington College. After three years of research in angiogenesis at Columbia University, she completed her medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Bassett Medical Center in Central New York in 2009 and served an additional year as Chief Resident.
 
Dr. Hartman-Heaney’s current clinical interests include:
Sepsis, Wilderness and Disaster Medicine, and Sedation and Mobility in the ICU.
 
Dr. Hartman-Heaney is an active member of the Code Blue, ICU Mobility, Credentials, Disaster Response and Government and Legislative Affairs Committees. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine.
