Victoria Scinto, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Profile

Victoria Scinto, a board-certified family nurse practitioner, earned a Master of Science in nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Simmons University in Boston and a B.S. in nursing from Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, PA.

“My interest in neurosurgery started with my interest in healthcare back in 2007 when my grandmother was diagnosed with a brain tumor,” Scinto says. “Today my main interest in neurosurgery is definitely the brain – it’s very complex.”

She explained that, as a visual person, she appreciates having the opportunity to look at CT scans of the brain to better understand a patient’s condition.

“What I honestly love most about my job is getting to meet people as people,” Scinto says. “When I worked previously in the operating room as a nurse, I would see patients conscious for maybe two minutes of their four-to-six-hour surgery and never see them again once they woke up. The reason I wanted to be a nurse practitioner was because, as much as I loved the operating room environment, I wanted to see the beginning and end of each patient’s story. Now I’m able to do that and form those relationships and that’s really important to me.”

Scinto says the ideal patient-provider relationship is one built on mutual trust and respect. “It’s important that we have open communication,” she says. “I want to make sure the patient feels listened to and that they leave thinking they received the best care.”

In her free time, Scinto’s favorite pastimes are playing video games, gardening with her husband and spending time with her husband and their two cats.
