Southern NH Health is honored to receive a grant from the New York Life Foundation to support several bereavement programs. As the leading corporate funder of bereavement support, the New York Life Foundation is dedicated to helping families during times of grief. This grant offers additional funding for the caring cradle, end-of-life doula training, and Compassion Café.
Caring Cradle for The Birth Place
Families create lasting memories at The Birth Place, but there are also times of profound loss. When families face unexpected and devastating outcomes. The Caring Cradle is a bassinet with a cooling mattress that helps families by allowing them more time to hold and honor their newborns who have passed, giving them precious, unrushed moments to say goodbye.
End-of-Life Doulas
Funding for our nurses to earn the University of Vermont’s End-of-Life Doula Professional Certificate will help meet the growing demand for end-of-life support. They will learn to support patients with individualized, compassionate care, including emotional, spiritual, informational, and physical support.
Compassion Café
Compassion Café is an opportunity for the nurses and staff to enjoy lunch with chaplains Sebastien and Claire. During this time, the chaplains check in with staff and see how they are doing with their patient load, stress of nursing, and any other concerns they may have. It is also an opportunity to share with staff how we can help with patients, family members, and end-of-life spiritual care.
Thank you, New York Life Foundation, for your support in our bereavement programs.
